I’m thrilled to share some exciting news—I had the honor of being a guest on The Jesus Storybook Bible Podcast! This incredible podcast, hosted by New York Times bestselling author Sally Lloyd-Jones, is a space where stories of faith, transformation, and the power of God’s love are shared in impactful ways. You can listen to the episode here.
In my episode, titled Shattering Limiting Behaviors by Knowing Our True Worth, I had the opportunity to open up about some of the darkest chapters of my life. I shared moments when I battled crippling anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and even suicidal thoughts. But more importantly, I shared the life-changing moment when I hit rock bottom, felt utterly lost, and wanted to give up—only to hear God’s voice call out to me. That moment didn’t just save my life; it gave me a new voice, a voice that now speaks hope and healing to others.
As I reflected during the interview, I said, “I was seeing myself have accomplishments and they sounded good on paper, but when I looked at myself in the mirror, I didn't like the person who was looking back at me when I laid my head down on my pillow at night.” This realization was pivotal in my journey of transformation.
When I sat across from Sally, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for the journey God has brought me through. We talked about the transformative power of truly understanding our worth in Christ. I shared how, even as someone who had achieved success in some areas of my life, I often felt like I was sinking in a personal nightmare. Living parts of my dream while feeling utterly miserable inside was a reality I know too many people can relate to. As I expressed during the conversation, “I thought that the applause of the crowd, the awards, and the accomplishments would fill me up. What I found out is it didn't—it just exposed how deep and wide the valley inside of me was.”
That’s why the work I do as a motivational speaker, coach, and Christian counselor is so personal to me. I’ve been there, and I know the way out. “I heard the voice of God, that still small voice, speak to me. It really shifted the trajectory of my life and got me thinking more about not only how do I heal, but once I'm healed, how do I help other people—other people who look like me, sound like me, and feel like me?” This question continues to shape my calling today.
When I speak to leaders, whether seasoned professionals or the next generation of youth, my message is clear: There is hope. There is healing. And there is a God who can take your mess and turn it into your message.
I also emphasized a truth that has guided me through my darkest times: “If I would just open my eyes, if I would just open my ears, if I would just open my heart to the possibilities, then I'm able to step fully into the fullness of who I can be just today.”
The episode dives into my testimony and the journey that led me to my calling today. From that lowest moment to the work I now do empowering leaders to overcome burnout, anxiety, and feelings of inadequacy, it’s a story of redemption and purpose. I’m passionate about helping others discover the same truth that saved me: You are not defined by your past, your mistakes, or your fears. Your worth comes from God alone, and in Him, there is freedom.
As I shared in the interview, “It's [in] the ‘what if’ moments when you quiet yourself—when you go into prayer—that God will provide you the greatest comfort. Before your situation started, before your anxiety, He knew who you were. He ordained this journey just for you, and even when you get it wrong, there's God's grace.”
If you’re someone who feels stuck, broken, or unsure of your path, I encourage you to listen to this episode. It’s more than just my story; it’s a reminder that no matter where you’ve been, God can lead you to a place of healing, joy, and purpose. And as I concluded during the interview, “God is present, God is there for you, and God will never leave you or forsake you.”
As a motivational speaker, my mission is to inspire others to rise above their limiting beliefs and embrace the fullness of their God-given potential. Whether I’m speaking to leaders navigating challenges in their careers or to youth trying to find their way in a complicated world, my message is the same: You are worthy. You are capable. And your future is brighter than you can imagine.
I’m so grateful to Sally Lloyd-Jones and The Jesus Storybook Bible Podcast for giving me the opportunity to share my story and my heart. This conversation is one I won’t soon forget, and I hope it blesses you as much as it blessed me.
